今日の食育はこの絵本からスタート！
Today’s food education started with this picture book!
そう、今が旬のそらまめです。
Yes, it was all about broad beans, which are currently in season.
・3-4月に紫色の花が咲くよ
・地面から空に向かって生えるよ
Broad bean plans bloom with beautiful puple flowersin March and April,
and they grow upward from the ground toward the sky.
絵本を読んでもらったり、実際の様子を写真でみせてもらったりと、
そらまめについて少し詳しくなったところで…
実際に触ってみよう！！
After reading the picture book and looking at photos of real broad beans, everyone learned a little more about them. Now, it was time to actually touch and explore them!

初めましての子が多かったようで不思議そうな様子と、「何だろう？」と期待感が感じ取れます。
見た目はぼこぼこ、ツルツル♩皮はしっかり肉厚・・・
Many of the children were seeing broad beans for the very first time, and their curious expressions and excitement were easy to see.
“The surface is bumpy and smooth!”
“The pods are thick and sturdy!”
皮がむけると、なんと！中には黄緑色のお豆さん♡
なんだか気持ちよさそうに寝ているところ失礼しまーす！と取りました。
Then, when we opened the pods… surprise! Inside were beautiful yellowish-green beans ♡
The beans looked as though they were sleeping comfortably inside their soft beds—sorry for waking you up!—and we gently took them out one by one.
中から出てきたことに嬉しくて手に取っていますよ。
そらまめの寝ていたベッドはどんな感じかな？？
「まっしろだね」
The children were delighted to discover the beans hidden inside and eagerly held them in their hands.
“What do you think the bed where the broad beans were sleeping feels like?”
“It’s pure white.”
「フワフワだね」
“Soft and fluffy.”
「寝てたみたいだね」
いろんな発見や感情がわいてきますね。
“It looks like they were sleeping in bed."
The children made many wonderful discoveries and experienced a variety of emotions throughout the activity.
帰りにお家の人にも伝えられるように玄関に絵本と実物を置きました。
To help share the experience with their families, we displayed the picture book and the real broad beans near the entrance for everyone to see at pick-up time.
剥いたそらまめは・・・もちろん！
午後のおやつでおいしくいただきました♪
「そらまめくんの おにぎりー！」
And of course, the peeled broad beans were later enjoyed as a delicious afternoon snack!
“Broad bean rice balls are yummy!”
体の栄養だけでなく心の栄養にもなってる気がします♡
It truly felt like this experience nourished not only the children’s bodies, but also their hearts ♡
