In our English Time curriculum, we have an activity called “Around The World”
that gives children a chance to experience different cultures! In June, we explored the Philippines!
We searched the map carefully... and found the Philippines!
Flying our plane around the globe to the Philippines!
Next task: find the flag — here it is!
Introducing Bahay Kubo house!
The Bahay Kubo means “nipa hut” in Tagalog and is a traditional Filipino stilt house designed to be cool and comfortable in the tropical climate. It’s a symbol of Filipino culture and still inspires modern homes today!
Introducing colorful Jeepneys!
Jeepneys are shared taxis in the Philippines, each uniquely decorated with bright colors and fun accessories.
Let’s discover more about the Philippines in our hallway!
Here it is! The BIG Bahay Kubo has suddenly appeared! ✨
Let’s paint and decorate!
Let’s paint and get creative with our Kubo!
What should I paint next?
Inside the Kubo, more fun and surprises!
Let’s make our own Jeepneys!
So cute asking, “Are we really doing this?”
Painting with full concentration.
Group photo to finish our fun trip!

Around the World: A Joyful Journey to the Philippines!
As part of our English Time curriculum, the children participated in our “Around the World” series — a fun and engaging way to explore global cultures through language, movement, art, and food. This time, we “flew” to the vibrant country of the Philippines, the home country of one of our English teachers.
We began our journey by finding the Philippines on a world map and globe. The children were excited to spot it and learn where in the world it is located — a fun and simple way to connect with geography.
Through colorful flashcards, we learned interesting facts about Filipino life. Then came a favorite moment — trying the Tinikling, a traditional Filipino dance where two poles are rhythmically tapped while dancers jump in and out. The children eagerly gave it a try, laughing and cheering each other on as they practiced the tricky footwork.
Next, we introduced the Bahay Kubo, a traditional Filipino stilt house made from bamboo and straw. The children helped paint a large model of one, adding their own designs and decorations. Once finished, it turned into a cozy little playhouse that they kept returning to all day long.
We also explored the colorful world of Filipino transportation through Jeepneys — bright, decorated minibuses that are a unique symbol of the Philippines. After looking at a real photo of Jeepney, the children got creative and painted their own miniature versions, each one proudly different and full of character.
To finish our journey, we enjoyed a taste of the Philippines with a special lunch prepared by our kitchen staff. Garlic rice was a big favorite, and the sweet banana lumpia snack was loved by all.
It was a joyful day filled with curiosity, creativity, and cultural discovery. The children were fascinated by what they learned and are already excited to find out which country we’ll visit next.
Where to next on our Around the World adventure? Stay tuned!
Paalam! (Goodbye!)
