今月のAround The Worldの国はイギリスです。
アフタヌーンティー・ロンドンバス・ゴルフ等、
日本でも馴染みのあるものが多く親しみを持ちますね。
This month, as part of our Around the World curriculum,
we focused on the United Kingdom and brought a bit of British magic to our preschool.
We turned one classroom into a magical Hogwarts,
where children dressed up as little wizards and witches and
embarked on an adventure full of spells, teamwork, and imagination.
また、有名な映画では「ハリー・ポッター」があります。
ということで、今日はハリーポッターの世界におじゃましま～す♩
少し暗めのイメージがあるので子どもたちの反応が気になりましたが、
紹介動画では真剣にみている様子が★
The chidlren watched an introductory video about the magical world of Harry Potter.
終わるとなんと、ハットとマントが登場し、魔法学校へ誘われましたよ！
もちろん、よろこんで装着♡
The children dressed up in wizard hats and cloaks before entering Hogwarts.
魔法の杖もいただいて、じーっと見つめています…♡
Each child also received a magic wand.
さてさて、いざ出発して進むとそこには魔法学校の校長先生がいました。
なんと魔法を教えてくれるとのこと！
まずは簡単な魔法から♩
At Hogwarts, the children were greeted by a friendly witch
who needed their help opening a magical box.
何度か練習すると魔法がかかるようになりました！！
喜んでいるのもつかの間、段々難しくなりなかなか魔法が効きません。
The children started helping the witch to cast different spells with their wands.
そこでもっと呪文の精度を上げるべく、杖でなぞりながら呪文を唱える練習です。
The children walked around the room, discovering some hidden spells.
They traced the drawings with their wands and chanted the spells together with their teacher.
少し難しいのもチャレンジしていると、終わるころには大分上達したようで、
先程は出てこなかったマジカルボールがようやく出てきました！
これには校長先生も驚きです‼
Finally, the box opened! But it was a trick! There was a freezing ball inside!
そしてマジカルボールの登場と共に、なんと「時が止まる」現象が起きましたよ！
The freezing ball could stop someone`s movements whenever it was pointed at them!
「呪文を唱えると魔法が溶ける」を繰り返していると、今度はみんなにも起こりましたよ！
結果…
止まったり、動いたりが楽しくなった魔法学校のみんなでした♡
Everyone started to dance and the witch used the ball to freeze everyone.
It was so much fun to move, freeze and unfreeze.
最後は、箒リレー♩
バランス良く走れるかが鍵です。両者譲らず、デットヒート☆
Finally, a broom race! Teachers flew as fast as they could!
いざ子どもたちの出番！先生たちの白熱の後で若干の緊張感が漂っていましたよ。
After the heated competition between the teachers,
now it`s the children`s turn to fly on their brooms!
無事レースを終え、来月のハロウィンの日に
魔法学校の校長先生との再会を約束してお別れしました☆★☆

Exploring the United Kingdom through Harry Potter Play
This month, as part of our Around the World curriculum, we explored the United Kingdom. From afternoon tea to double-decker buses and even golf, there are many exciting things to learn about the UK. But, perhaps, one of the most famous things from the UK for children is the Harry Potter World. In our preschool, we decided to explore the UK through a Harry Potter dramatic play.
Before the adventure began, the children gathered to watch a short introduction video about the world of Harry Potter. Even though the story has a slightly dark and mysterious atmosphere, the children were completely focused and watched with serious, curious expressions. It was the perfect way to set the mood for what came next.
We transformed one of our classrooms into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and the children could not wait to join. Each child received a cloak, wizard hat, and a magic wand, and was warmly welcomed by a friendly witch who needed their help. A mysterious magic box had appeared, and it could only be opened using special spells.
The children worked together, waving their wands and chanting the spells they had just learned. Finally, the box opened. But it was a trick! Inside there was a freezing ball. Whenever it was pointed at someone, they had to freeze in place. The room filled with laughter as the children danced, froze, and unfroze again and again through their magic.
To end the experience, the children flew around the room on magic brooms. What a fun activity!
At lunchtime, they enjoyed a UK-themed meal, and some wondered if Harry Potter might have eaten the same food.
It was a truly magical way to connect learning with culture, creativity, and play. We are already looking forward to what comes next, especially with Halloween just around the corner. Maybe the witch will return for a special visit.
